Replica Winged Backpack Review (Lost Mannequin Sid Bag)

I jumped on the Tumblr bandwagon and finally bought myself a winged backpack which I'd been wanting to buy for a while. This review is for a replica of the Lostmannequin Sid backpack which are getting pretty popular lately. I haven't seen any reviews for the replica versions, so I thought I'd share my views for anyone who is considering buying a replica. Warning, this is image heavy!

I purchased my backpack from ebay where they sell for around £15-£28 ($25-$43) depending on which coloured backpack you want. These backpacks are not identical replicas, nor are the ones you can find on taobao or most blog shops. But they are pretty good dupes for the Lostmannequin backpacks which can be pricey when you factor in the expensive shipping and handling fees if your from the North America or Europe.

The backpack was dispatched on 30th August and I received it by courier on the 4th September. It came well packaged, within a pink dustbag which was inside a plastic bag.

Here is the backpack, it looks a little odd since it's a bit out of shape from transit. The backpack is a bit brighter than the original Lostmannequin backpack but I would still consider the shades a pastel colour, if that makes sense. All of the little compartments on the outside of the backpack open and are usuable, although they do have quite weak magnets, so I'm a little hesistant to put valuables in them.
There were some minor flaws with the bag. There were a few loose threads at the back and on the tassels, you can see where it has been cut and glued. Also, part of the pleather material on one of  the tassels has come a bit loose. But, they are only  minor defects which are an easy fix.
The back is pretty simple, just the two backpack straps which are a bit different to the original. The adjustable straps are pink, not white; and I find the thick pink and blue straps to be a little flimsy. I wouldn't recommend using this backpack for really heavy school books or a heavy laptop.

The inside is nothing special, it has three compartments, although the large zipped pocket opens up and the pocket space is above the zip if that makes sense. Just the standard compartments you would find in any bag/backpack. It's pretty roomy and should fit quite a bit in, although it's definitely smaller than the Lostmannequin version.
Overall I'm really impressed with the backpack. I was expecting the backpack to look very different to the original, or to be really poor quality. Surely it is not identical to the Lostmannequin version, but it is close enough for me personally.

If you are really wanting a winged backpack but can't afford the Lostmannequin version, I'd recommend getting this one, as it is a really nice backpack. It doesn't look or feel very cheap at all. But if you wanting a true pastel backpack that is quite large and can take a lot of weight the Lostmannequin Sid backpack looks like a better choice. I hope this has helped out anyone who was curious about the replica backpacks!

Gem xoxo
